Just over three and a half years ago, I called my husband with an idea, a crazy, random idea. It was an idea that would require a leap of faith, a lot of hard work, sacrifice and passion. It was the beginning of GingerSnap Photo Camper and it all started with a random Wednesday afternoon phone call to my husband saying, “Hey, I kinda want to do something and you can’t say no!”
For those of you who have never met my husband, he is the most hardworking man I know. He is kind, he is gentle and he balances out my crazy. So you can only imagine his response to my “You can’t say no!” statement and some sweet talking what I had in mind! He said, YES!!!! Did I mention he is sweet and kind…oh yeah…and a sucker for me and our girls! This guy will do anything for us! Not kidding y’all, that evening we went on the hunt for vintage campers.
Our first Craigslist find was nearby and an easy drive to check out. It was the cutest little vintage camper, a Scamp. It had great bones and I could have made it work but I wasn’t interested in just making it work, I had a vision, I knew what I was looking for and at that moment I was not going to settle. We would just have to look harder, search longer and maybe drive further. We kindly thanked the owner for showing us his treasure and we went on our way. We stopped for dinner and our mission to find the perfect camper was back on…
I called listing after listing only to find out they had already been sold, or the condition was not what we wanted or they were too expensive. After some talk and consideration we decided to broaden our search. We found a camper a few hours away that seemed to fit the bill. We packed up and headed North with a dream and a vision in mind.
Part 2 coming soon…
